DESCRIPTION

Race Director – Kenneth K. Takeuchi

*      30+ years directing local races, including Fresno’s largest race, The Big Fresno Fair Cross-City Race from its debut until 1999.

*      In 1986 established the Valley Runner of the Year Series.  As the Series Director, maintains the schedule and points standing.

*      Participant in numerous marathons, including the Boston Marathon, and ultra-marathons.

EQUIPMENT

*      Finish time display clock (so participant can see his/her time) at the finish line.

*      Chute setup for an orderly finish and accurate timing.

*      Timing equipment:  TimeMachine with primary, select, and backup  timing used to verify/maintain accuracy in assigning

times to participants.

Times are recorded for each participant with the timing (and backup) units.

*      Barcode readers input the race numbers and names accurately.

*      Preparation of course maps, participant’s instructions, race number preparation, registration, and pickup layout and procedures.

*      Results posted on internet on race day.

*      Post race publication mailed Tuesday after event with individual results.

1999 San Joaquin Valley Marathon

*      Course layout to USATF certification. 

*      Preparation of course maps, participant’s instructions, race number preparation. registration, and pickup layout and procedures.

*      All data transmitted to The Fresno Bee to list all pre-race entries - a first for Fresno.

*      Produced the results for all events by 5:00 pm race day.  A detailed listing of all finishers in The Fresno Bee, not just the award winners - a first for Fresno.

*      Supplied results to the SJVM for preparation of results mailing.
